About

Built by an indie developer, for builders

Would it work? (wouldit.work) is a small, independent product built and run by one indie developer. It exists because AI chatbots tend to tell you every idea is great, and AI coding tools make it cheap to build the wrong thing quickly.

What it does

You describe an idea. We search public sources (GitHub repositories and Hacker News stories and comments) for products that already exist and for what real people complain about. Then we write a short report using only that evidence, with a link for every claim. When the evidence is thin, the report says "not enough data" instead of guessing.

We also publish case studies of real indie, AI and vibe-coded products: what worked, what didn't, and what you can learn. Every number links to where it came from.

Principles

  • No invented numbers, testimonials or user counts.
  • Every claim links to a public source.
  • Idea reports are private by default.
  • The code is open source.
