Terms of Service

the individual developer operating wouldit.work · Terms of Service for AI-powered services · Version 1.0 · Last updated 2026-11-01

1. Introduction & acceptance of terms

Welcome to wouldit.work, operated by the individual developer operating wouldit.work ("we", "us", "our"), an individual / sole trader operating under the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator resides. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our AI-powered services, including the "Would it work?" idea-evidence checker and the case-study library, available at https://wouldit.work (the "Service").

By using the Service, creating an account, subscribing to any plan, or purchasing a single deep check, you confirm that you: (a) are at least 18 years of age; (b) have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms; (c) agree to our Privacy Policy; and (d) are authorized to enter into this agreement on behalf of yourself or any organization you represent.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service. Continued use after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Service description

2.1 What we provide

We provide an AI-powered platform that lets users describe a product idea and receive a report built from public evidence: similar existing products, quotes from public discussions, risks, and a suggested smallest version to build, with links to every source. We also publish free, sourced case studies about real products. The Service is a digital software-as-a-service (SaaS) product delivered over the internet.

2.2 Nature of the service

The Service is a digital, intangible product. Upon confirmed payment, access is granted immediately. Because delivery is immediate and digital, the refund limits in Section 7 apply.

2.3 AI model and data-source dependency

The Service uses third-party AI model providers (currently an OpenAI-compatible API serving DeepSeek models) and public data sources (currently the GitHub search API and the Hacker News search API provided by Algolia). Service performance and availability may be affected by the operational status of these providers. We will try to communicate significant disruptions in a timely manner.

3. Account registration & eligibility

3.1 Account creation

The free plan does not require an account. Paid plans may require an account with accurate and complete information. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.

3.2 Account security

  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use at support@wouldit.work.
  • Do not share your credentials with any third party.
  • Keep your billing email address up to date.

3.3 Business accounts

If you register on behalf of a company or organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

4. Plans & credits

We offer a free plan, a subscription plan and a one-time purchase:

  • Free: US$0. 3 idea checks per day and all public case studies. No payment required.
  • Pro: US$9 per month, billed monthly. Renews automatically every month until you cancel. Includes 50 deep checks per month, more evidence sources per check, private report history, and PDF export.
  • Single deep check: US$3, a one-time payment that does not renew. Includes one deep check with more evidence sources and a PDF export of that report.

Current plan details and pricing are always shown at https://wouldit.work/pricing. Paid checkout is not yet available; until it is, only the free plan can be used.

5. Billing & payment

5.1 Merchant of record

Paid plans are sold through Waffo, which acts as our merchant of record and reseller. Payments are processed by our PCI-DSS certified payment processor, Waffo Pancake. Your card statement will show the merchant-of-record descriptor. Waffo handles payment processing, sales tax/VAT collection and invoicing for paid orders.

5.2 Subscription recurring billing authorization

By subscribing to Pro, you expressly authorize us and our merchant of record to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis for the applicable subscription fee until you cancel under Section 6.

5.3 One-time purchase authorization

Each Single deep check purchase is a one-time transaction authorized at checkout. It does not renew.

5.4 Taxes

Prices are shown in US dollars and are exclusive of applicable taxes unless otherwise stated. Applicable taxes are calculated and collected at checkout by the merchant of record.

5.5 Price changes

We will give Pro subscribers at least 14 days' notice by email before a price change takes effect. The new price applies from your next billing period after the notice period.

6. Cancellation policy

You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time from your account's subscription settings (or the customer portal link in your receipt email), or by emailing support@wouldit.work. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep Pro access until then. No further charges are made after cancellation. Single deep checks purchased separately are not affected by cancelling a subscription.

7. Refund policy

7.1 Subscription refunds

  • 7-day guarantee for first-time subscribers: a full refund if you request it within 7 days of your first Pro payment and have used no more than 20% of the plan's monthly deep-check quota (10 of 50 checks).
  • Duplicate charge or service failure (the Service unavailable for 72 hours or more): eligible for a refund or credit.

7.2 Single deep check refunds

  • Unused single deep checks within 7 days of purchase are eligible for a full refund.
  • Used single deep checks are non-refundable, except where a check failed to produce a report because of an error on our side, in which case we will restore the check or refund it.

7.3 Monthly quota: no rollover

Deep checks included in a Pro subscription reset at the start of each billing period and do not carry over to the next period.

7.4 Purchases after subscription cancellation

Separately purchased single deep checks keep their original validity regardless of subscription status.

7.5 Consumption order

When both Pro monthly checks and separately purchased single deep checks are available, Pro monthly checks are used first.

To request a refund, email support@wouldit.work with your order email and receipt. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method through the merchant of record.

8. Billing disputes

If you believe a charge is wrong, please contact us at support@wouldit.work before disputing it with your bank. We aim to respond within 2 business days and to resolve confirmed billing errors within 5 business days.

9. AI output & intellectual property

9.1 Ownership of outputs

Subject to these Terms, reports generated in response to your inputs ("Outputs") are owned by you. You may use Outputs for any lawful purpose consistent with Section 10. Quoted third-party content in a report remains the property of its authors; we link to its source.

9.2 Input license

By submitting an idea or other content ("Inputs"), you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your Inputs only to deliver the Service, including sending search queries derived from them to the data sources listed in Section 2.3 and sending them to our AI model provider. We do not use your Inputs to train AI models.

9.3 Third-party AI models

Outputs may be influenced by third-party models. We do not guarantee specific output quality and accept no liability for outputs generated by third-party models.

9.4 Accuracy of AI outputs

AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies, and a lack of evidence in our sources does not mean an idea has no prior art. You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying Outputs before relying on them.

9.5 Our content

The website, software and case studies are owned by us or our licensors. You may quote short excerpts of case studies with a link back to the original page.

10. Acceptable use policy

10.1 Permitted uses

You may use the Service only for lawful purposes in accordance with these Terms.

10.2 Prohibited uses

You agree NOT to use the Service to:

  • Generate content that is illegal, defamatory, harassing, or fraudulent.
  • Generate, distribute, or facilitate deepfake content that impersonates real individuals or is intended to deceive viewers about its origin or authenticity.
  • Generate content that sexualizes minors or violates child-protection laws.
  • Produce malware, phishing content, or cyber-attack tools.
  • Infringe the intellectual property or privacy rights of any third party.
  • Circumvent rate limits or interfere with the security features of the Service.
  • Resell or sub-license access to the Service without our prior written approval.
  • Violate any applicable law, regulation, or card network rule.

10.3 AI-specific prohibitions

You also agree NOT to:

  • Use Service inputs, outputs, or any derivative of them to train, fine-tune, benchmark, distil, or otherwise develop an AI or machine-learning model that competes with the Service.
  • Systematically scrape or harvest Outputs at scale beyond your own authorized use.
  • Present Outputs as the work of a licensed professional (for example a lawyer or financial adviser) where that could cause harm.

11. Data, privacy & security

Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy. Payment card data is processed exclusively by our PCI-DSS certified payment processor (Waffo Pancake) and is never stored on our servers. Private reports are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted automatically; account data is deleted within 90 days after account closure.

12. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

12.1 Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR ACCURACY OF AI OUTPUTS.

12.2 AI-generated content disclaimer

Outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. They are decision aids, not business, legal, financial, or other professional advice, and they do not guarantee that any idea will or will not succeed. Case studies describe what public sources reported at the time of writing; past results of other products do not predict yours.

12.3 Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.

13. Term, suspension & termination

These Terms remain in effect while you use the Service. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms (including the acceptable use policy), if we suspect fraudulent activity or abuse (for example automated rate-limit evasion), or as required by law. If we terminate for reasons other than your breach, we will give a pro-rated refund for any unused prepaid period. You may stop using the Service or ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing support@wouldit.work.

14. Governing law & dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator resides. Before starting any formal proceedings, please contact us at support@wouldit.work so we can try to resolve the issue informally.

15. General provisions

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced by email to paying customers at least 14 days before they take effect, and the "Last updated" date above will change. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

16. Contact information
